Prison Ministry
Community Church of Manchester is actively involved in
prison ministry and support groups for prisoner's
families. Located in Manchester is a federal medium
security prison and next to it is a federal prison
camp. The prison is only 6-7 minutes from the church
and this as an excellent opportunity to minister to a
group of men who either need to know or know better the
Jesus we serve. The camp is for those who are not
violent offenders. The prison is for those who have
been convicted of more serious crimes. This presents
our community with a flow of prisoners and our community
with a flow of their family, friends, and others who
visit either facility. The moving in and out of the
area of camp and prison employees has given us
challenges to present the Love of Christ through our
mountain cultures.
Community Church conducts regular services at the camp
and participates in services at the prison. We also
work with an in-camp church group of over 80 inmates
that meets regularly each week.
We help with support groups of family members of the
camp and prison.
The "Angel Tree" program is a big project that we help
sponsor here each year during Christmas. It is for the
regional children of prisoners located here in
Manchester. This program brings us tears of happiness
each year.
IF YOU PLAN TO VISIT SOMEONE in the Manchester
Federal Correctional facility camp or main prison, let
us know if we can be of any help. We have helped many
families and visitors with information about Manchester,
the lodging and eating facilities offered as well as
directions. We have several members of our congregation
who minister at the FCI regularly and can help you.
