Elder's Blog 001
This is the first and perhaps last installment of my Elder’s Blog. I talked myself into giving it a try.
I wish that I could say that I was a renowned biblical scholar with volumes of knowledge and wisdom to espouse, but the truth is I’m just a regular guy. I have many of the same questions as the next guy when it comes to understanding the bible.
However, a great thing about the God we serve is he will not have us ignorant. Ignorant does not mean stupid. Ignorant means a lack of knowledge “lacking knowledge and education in general or in a specific subject”. So, if you don’t know the answer to a biblical question, what do you do? James 1:5 tells you to simply ask of God.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Does this mean you will instantly be able to debate the enemy on difficult issues like abortion, homosexuality and divorce? Probably not. You may not be able to quote scripture after scripture to support your position but you will know God’s position.
In the coming days, I will share my thoughts on some of the difficult issues facing us today, as well as some lighter moments.
