Cumberland Gap

On September 7th after months of preparation and saturated with much prayer and fasting a "Fresh Wind" began to blow through Cumberland Gap.

Where KY, VA, TN, NC all comes together is know as the passage way to the first western frontier West of the Appalachian Mountain range...  Named Cumberland Gap by Dr. Thomas Walker, an Early Settler, after The Duke of Cumberland.    Around 12,000 people had passed through this old Indian trail by the time the colonies had won their independence in 1783 and by 1800 over 200,000 had passed through the Gap heading traveling the Wilderness Road, as it is still know today.

For a long time people in this area have felt that the area of Eastern KY. and TN. have been under a dark cloud of despair and depression.  Many felt that even though they were in much prayer for the people that there seemed to be a heaviness over this region that just would not lift.  Then in early spring of this year people from different parts of the world and across this land began to call different people who were know intercessors and tell they believed something big was about to happen in the region.  Two leaders emerged Philip Winn pastor with New Life Fellowship and Ray Hughes with Morning Star Ministries.  Phillip began to vision what was happening as he labored in prayer that he felt there was going to be a pour through of God's Spirit into our region just as people poured into our land through the Gap.

Along with Ray on the  NC side of the Gap they a swell began to grow in the prayers as more and more people began to call and question.  Several people called from Scotland, Wales, and Ireland to inquire and began also to discuss the heritage of the people from the British Isles that poured into our land during those early years.  A date surfaced and September 7th was thought to be significant.  It was believed that Cumberland Gap was the place that would in the physical represent what God was going to do in the Spirit.  A pouring into the land of His Spirit.

On September 7th a "Fresh Wind" began to blow and is continuing to blow into this land.  We believe it is the wind of revival.  Even a gentle breeze can fan a few embers into a blazing fire.  We are praying to burn away this cloud that is over our land and release the fire of revival that we know God wants to bring into our land.

Several thousand gathered at Cumberland Gap on the 7th.  In fact people from over 40 states thought it significant enough to come and take part.  Others from across the oceans came; some from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland as well as other countries around the globe.

There were 10 cities in our region that banded together in a corridor of prayer along the Cumberland's to usher in this wind of revival.  Thanks to all the men and women prayer warriors who have labored so hard before the Lord in prayer for so long for this break through.  We are excited to see what is already beginning to happen as the people get release and break through.  We are living in exciting times and they will get more exciting in the days ahead as "we who are His people humble ourselves, repent, and return to God in prayer."

On September the 8th we were so blessed and honored to have three men from different areas of Wales attend our morning worship at Community Church.  They believed there was going to be a breaking through and they wanted to be witnesses.  As John Powell, Tim O'Hara, and Martin shared their beliefs, experiences, and testimonies, one by one a picture began to unfold as just how rich our British Isle heritage is.  Even a common bond through the coal mining of their area and ours.  They brought fresh and timely words of hope and healing for our land.  Our prayers continue for them as they return to their land and seek the Lord for their land as well.

In Summary.  Just imagine what all God can do in our land when our people begin to turn and seek him daily.  What will happen to crime, greed, perversions, drugs, alcohol, corruption, and multitudes of other sins....?  When God is placed in His rightful position in our lives and in our land as "Our God, Our Lord, Our Savior, Our Leader, Our Provider, Our Healer, Our Peacemaker, Our Refuge, and Our High Tower... ... ... ...  A "Fresh Wind" is blowing through the Cumberland's....  Join with us; place your embers where they can be fanned into a mighty flame!
