About Us
Community Church is located
in Manchester, Kentucky. Manchester is a small town of
about 1900 people in the southeastern part of Kentucky.
We started our church as a small group meeting in
different homes and then moved to a small store in a
shopping center on the north end of town. From there we
moved to our current location which is a converted truck
garage of an old auto-truck dealership. Our sanctuary
can seat about 250 people but, on a few occasions we
have had the sanctuary stuffed to over-flowing. Our
sanctuary is versatile. We use stackable pews that can
be moved and stacked so that the sanctuary can be
multi-functional, ranging from Christian dramas to an
emergency shelter.
Separate from the church, we have our
Outreach Center, full
kitchen, and church offices. In February 2001, we
opened, in another building, a modern family practice
Medical Clinic staffed
with 4 rotating volunteer doctors plus nurses and
clerks. We are filling the gap for those who work but
cannot afford insurance or have a medical card. Through
the church outreach people's lives are being touched and
changed. Many are becoming Christians as the gospel is
compassionately shared and demonstrated.
We conduct two meetings a week at the
Federal Corrections Institute
here in Manchester. In addition to this the Outreach
Center is open daily to minister to the needs of the
community. Several times each year we host Christian
speakers who are speaking to the church today on
revival, healing, and
deliverance as well as other topics.
Our community is riddled with drugs and alcohol. The
havoc and destruction it has brought to the users and
their families is like a train wreck hurting all who are
attached even onlookers. Our leadership has a special
burden for these and is helping love,
counsel, and deliver them
into the body Christ. They are praying for all that are
sick and heavy burdened. For, "By his stripes we ARE
healed in Jesus name"! Born out of this compassion is
the aggressive program of
outreach through support groups
in the community.
Community Church is very active in helping reach the
world by sending missionaries from our own congregation
and supporting others as well. We believe that we ARE
missionaries and ARE commanded to go; we're not to
depend on others to go. We have at the present from our
church one full time medical missionary in
Russia. Others have been
serving in Chile and Africa. We have sent teams to
Guatemala, Honduras, Kazakhstan, and Haiti on shorter
missions. It is our commission to go where called by
God! GO YE!! We believe that Jesus meant what he said
in Matthew 25: 31-41 and Matthew 28:18-20. We are small
church but, very busy trying to do what Jesus said to do
until he returns.
